Looking for Gay Retreat Co-Host in Costa Rica

Michael Kline

Following the May conference, I had an expanded awareness about how much gay identity and community had slipped out of my life in the last thirty years of being settled with my husband and living in rural areas. Something was stirring in re-exploring who I am and who I am to become in my continued evolution.

Identity is the theme for this year's conference and a big part of my journey for 2022-23. Following the May conference, I had an expanded awareness about how much gay identity and community had slipped out of my life in the last thirty years of being settled with my husband and living in rural areas. I didn’t think I missed it until I got to Easton and met so many amazing gay coaches. Something was stirring in re-exploring who I am and who I am to become in my continued evolution.

I flew from the conference directly to a week of facilitating big work with a group in Denver, where memories and almost flashback experiences were showing up, reconnecting me to some plant medicine journeys I did six months prior. I was having visions of being fire, and serving warmth, safety and transformation to those around me. I remember feeling humbled, resistant, and a little nervous. And, realizing, that most people on the planet would think I was crazy, and I’m oddly okay with that lol!

In June, I was off to Costa Rica, to do another series of Ayahuasca journeys and breathwork experiences. In my plant medicine journeys I had some beautiful experiences with both feminine and masculine energy work. Like my previous trip, I also had many discussions with the fire. As I resisted “Grandfather Fire” telling me that I am fire, I went through four nights of long conversations before I finally surrendered to accept my role, and the love and support that flooded me as soon as I surrendered.

Meanwhile, as luck would have it, my torn meniscus blew up while there. I stayed to have my surgery done there (highly recommended). I took advantage of the time to stay at a retreat center that we were looking at to purchase with a group of investors. Instead of a one-day visit, I stayed for 9 days recuperating, and became an owner, falling in love with the energy, privacy, secluded beach, the monkeys – all of it! It’s called Con Smania, (meaning with passion), and it’s between Nosara and Samara, CR.

I hosted two retreats already in 2022, getting the know the property more deeply and getting valuable feedback and rave reviews from participants. I plan to host or cohost several in 2023, including teaching RIM (Regenerating Images in Memory) as Emotional Processing Skills to coaches, therapists and retreat leaders. We are also starting our new Retreat Leaders Academy, for both experienced and aspiring retreat leaders.

What’s obviously missing on our calendar, is gay or LGBTQ retreats! I would love to connect with a gay coach (or two) who have a good following. It works financially with a minimum of just ten participants, but we sleep up to thirty, and honestly, its most comfortable for 12-24. In addition to a following, if you the retreat content and facilitation skills, or just one or the other, we can partner. Let’s create an amazing turn-key product that is a joy for you to host or cohost, truly transformational for your participants, and highly profitable for your business.
