The Value of Belonging
GCA membership growth and renewals underscore the value of belonging. This is a good opportunity to share some suggestions on ways to get the most from your GCA membership:
Update your coach-finder profile. An important GCA membership benefit is having a profile on the website coach-finder. This helps potential clients to find you and helps fellow GCA members to know you better for referrals and partnering opportunities. New members: Log into the GCA website and complete your coach profile. Not-so-new members: Periodically review your profile to be sure it is up to date. Note: You can opt out of disclosing your telephone number.
Explore the resources on the GCA website. Check out recordings of previous meetings, the roster of GCA, plus links to Gay Coaches Conference pages and to the GCA Book Project.
Attend monthly membership Zoom meetings. Meetings are usually the second Thursday of each month (except August), 4-5:30 p.m. U.S. Eastern time. The first 15 minutes of each meeting are meet/greet/networking, before the featured presenter. Miss a meeting? GCA members can view Zoom recordings on the website.
Attend both 2022 conferences. In 2022, there will be two GCA conferences. The virtual Winter Conference is Jan. 21-22. Then, our in-person International Gay Coaches Conference will resume May 4-8, at the Easton Mountain Retreat Center, near Albany, NY. Conferences details forthcoming. Mark your calendar!
Share your gifts-Monthly Meeting Presentations. At each month’s membership meeting, a GCA member is a featured presenter, sharing something of interest to gay coaches. Visit the GCA website for previous meeting descriptions of diverse presentation topics. What topic could you present about?
Share your gifts-Conferences Presentations. Watch for the conference planning team’s “call for presenters” messages for the virtual and in-person conferences. (Also, there will be volunteer opportunities for the May 4-8 conference.)
Reach out. Connecting with fellow GCA members for virtual coffee and conversations is a great way to build your network and meet other awesome gay coaches. Maybe it’s time to reconnect with a GCA colleague you met at a meeting or conference? Or maybe it’s time to connect with a GCA member you don’t know yet! The coach-finder function on the GCA website can help search for fellow members with similar coaching focus or location.
Thank you!
Tim Kincaid, PCC
